CSU's Master of GIS and Remote Sensing allows students to build their knowledge and practical expertise in spatial science and remote sensing technology from an introductory level through to a high level of expertise with independent study and project experience at the Masters level.
Graduates of this course will have advanced knowledge and skills in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS). As a graduate, you will be able to apply your knowledge and skills in spatial science to collect, map, analyses and present information about the physical and built environment. You will be able to use your creativity, initiative and independent judgment to use specialized techniques to address a wide variety of spatial problems.
You may also choose to exit the course early, with the Graduate Certificate in GIS and Remote Sensing after successfully completing 32 points (four subjects), or the Graduate Diploma of GIS and Remote Sensing after successfully completing 64 points (eight subjects). The exit points offer considerable flexibility, allowing students to gain the GIS and Remote Sensing knowledge and qualification they need today, and to add to their credentials at a later date if necessary.

Career opportunities
Demand for graduates is strong. Graduates have a wide choice of careers in private industry or in government. They use their skills to help resolve environmental (lands, forests and water) and social (health crime, development) problems. Graduates are employed by a range of government agencies, businesses, and companies involved in spatial science, either as consultants or as staff, in roles relating to surveying, remote sensing, GIS analysis, laser scanning or hydrographic surveying.

Applicants can have completed the Graduate Diploma. Other English Language Requirements accepted: TOEFL paper-based: Score of 550 and TWE of 5.0; PTE: Academic score of 54 overall with a minimum of 46 in all communicative skills; Combined Universities Admission Test (CULT): overall score of at least 65; HKDSE: minimum of Level 4; HKALE: C pass; STAT test: Score of 155 in the verbal component; CAE: Overall score of 52 with no band less than Borderline; CPE: score of 45; B Pass in English at the GSCE/GCE 'O' Levels (from Britain or Singapore); satisfactory completion (D grade or higher in Level 3) of the Embassy CES 'English for Academic Purposes Programme' (EAPP).
